To read that Rod has dementia is so sad.  He was such a big part of VU athletics for a long time.  Back in the day, when I was playing softball, rod was an umpire.  What a nice man.

As time goes on, this has gone from urgent to desperate. It has been 90 and humid for several days. Unless Rod has found shelter and water somewhere...well, it's not looking good. There is very little undeveloped land in Valpo. It's hard to imagine that someone wondering around town this long hasn't been spotted. That said, his house is on the far southwest corner with adjacent marshy land with a couple of small ponds. Presumably, that's the first area they searched.

After Kikas appeared to reinstate his Facebook account last week, when I saw a previous friend request from a few years back accepted, I thought that I would see how his career went.  He is quite the Angolan and African Basketball legend!  Congrats to Kikas on a solid career, and for moving into a Sporting Director position at his long-time club in 2017, after his retirement!  Also, for those more recent Valpo fans, Kikas was one of the friendliest basketball players in our team's history, on par with Vashil Fernandez.

Marten Linssen utilized the GT rule and coaching change at UNCW, to end up at SLU!  Good for him, as he is starting at an A-10 program with a rich tradition.  I felt that he might have been our biggest miss in the prior years to JFL leaving.

AP is really coming into his own with his newest Team Boskonia. This is the first European Club he's played for where he's getting a more feature role on the team and he's shining with the opportunity. He's on one of the top teams in Europe. He recently beat his old team CSKA which won it all when he was on the team in one of the more featured bench roles. Good to see AP doing well.

In order to leverage the family hardship waiver rule, his choices were limited.  Really only Northwestern, Depaul, UIC, Chicago State, or Loyola (IL), otherwise he wouldn't have been as likely to play right away.

It looks like Rowdy is going home to play in Australia. I hate that he hasn't been picked up by an NBA team, especially since a few could use him, but I wish him the best!

Congrats to Rowdy!  Since the NBA is getting close to the mid-point, he was probably holding out until the last minute, to see if an NBA contract came his away, outside of his non-preferred 2-way offers.  My guess is that he has an out clause, should an NBA team come calling, close to the playoff push time.
