Erik Buggs played his first professional game, and it looks like he may have started, playing 34 minutes and scoring 12 points. He had a typical game for Buggs: 5-5 on 2-point shots; 0-2 from the 3-point line; 2-6 from the free throw line; 4 fouls, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 turnovers. Cory Johnson is on the same team and leads them with a 20 point per game average. Cory is shooting 92% from the free throw line so far this season (33-36): perhaps he could give Erik lessons from the charity stripe.

After having to deal with an injury, Rowdy is back to health and had his best game as a pro this week. He scored 18 points in 25 minutes of play and only 7 shots. He also had 5 rebounds to go with 2 steals. Good to see him showing his true form!

Eli Holman actually leads the Turkish league in rebounds per game. I don't speak Russian, otherwise I'd try to find out if they've ever played against each other (again).

I'm slow to the news, but this is great!  Buggd and Johnson together, in Ticino!  Fun for them, I hope to have Italy (and the alps) in their back yard.

The Geneva team, in their league, plays about 15 minutes from where we lived (tgey actuall play in Meyrin, or used to).  We took the kids to game at least once. No Valpo players in the league at the time, I think.  (And I think Geneva wasnt first division at the time).

Funny to think that, in slightly different circumstances, we could have seen two valpo players.

Looks like Buggs has done pretty well since joining, in a starting spot and putting up some numbers.

Interesting comment wanting his sons to follow in his footsteps and go to Valpo.  Does anyone know if the men's basketball program has ever had a second generation player?

During his playing days he was an Associated Press Honorable Mention Little All-American in 1966, the same season he was named the team's Most Valuable Player.  The captain of the 1965-1966 squad, Smith helped guide the Crusaders to the NCAA Midwest Regional tournament under coach Gene Bartow.

It appears that he retired last March, but was then picked up as the Women's Tennis coach.  His wife was a former tennis coach as well, and she is currently an Associate AD.

Wagner may be playing Fairleigh Dickinson next but Jay's actions seem to have turned out fairly ridiculous. It sure doesn't put a good light on Valpo.

also, note that their "senior star" and leading scorer had been coming off the bench for them.  interesante.
