valpotx, it was the game at the United Center. If recall, it was the weekend students returned to campus from Thanksgiving break. I know met a friend to ride to Chicago to be in the pep band for this game. It was fun being courtside for this game, and that missed 3 by Greg left a bruise for a few days, but the team got things back together for a good conference run, and postseason play.

oh man...thanks for bringing back THAT memory. Who else here was there?  Everybody?  Good.
Is this when we lost a close one at the United Center?
Yes.  We had the last possession down two and set up Greg for a three to win.It was during Scott's only year as head coach.  Greg missed.  Yes, I was there... :(

I was also present.

Was at the ND game as well. Ugh.

For Tonagel's IWU team, 2 of the three players listed are from the Akron region. He's recruiting well here, maybe Tressel should hire him....

Ditto, including my wife, my 3 married children and their spouses, and my nephew and his wife. Most memorable part of the day - paying the bill for dinner and drinks after at Greek Islands. Of course, this was after supplying all the tickets.  Ol' Dad was an easy touch in those days. ;)

Yep, I was there too.  Overwhelming majority was Crusaders fans.  That was the game that ND didn't help promote, so they didn't share in the profits.

I wonder if he could make it to the NBA someday as an assistant coach?

Well, vu72 never said it was an English translation. He just said it was a translation.  ;)

Well, I am a good German Lutheran, through and through!  Unfortunately, that's as far as the German goes!!

Wonderful article about Rowdy and his soaring success in Turkey (koala even gets a mention!): Ryan Broekhoff: On being a Boomer, Turkish All-Star, and what lies beyond

So happy to see him doing well overseas! I hope he gets the opportunity to make it in the NBA some day.

I know - I am a basketball dork but this was fun to watch.   I just sort of stumbled onto the link while watching some Valpo Athletics' links...   (number 25 has a great game)

BTW Jim Stueve was in attendance at the Wright State game.  I wouldn't have recognized him without his name tag.  As far as I know, there were no fights.

I didn't see it mentioned anywhere that Ryan Broekhoff was back on this side of the Pacific and nearby, as he was invited to the Toronto Raptors mini-camp for NBA free agents this past week. Rowdy finished his pro season this year in Turkey with an average of 11.5 pts. & 6.2 rebs. per game, and he shot 41.6% from the 3-point line. I hope he gets a look from a few NBA teams, especially with a fellow Aussie making news in the NBA finals.

Do you really think that Dellavedova's sudden notoriety due to the NBA finals is gaining Broekhoff some momentum for an NBA trial with the Raptors?

Raptors: If it's working for the Cavs to get a player from down under maybe we should try it. Bring in some Aussie players! I see there is a Broekhoff who played at Valpo and has done well in Turkey. Let's bring him in. There's something nice about getting a Boomer on our team.

Rowdy can be a 10-15 minute per game guy in the NBA.  He has that kind of talent and specialty in regards to 3 pt shooting, that many teams covet.

Always good to see that former players keep Valpo close to their heart.  Ali Berdiel still mentions Valpo fairly often every college basketball season, based on the updates I get from Facebook.

Kevin VanWijk, what can you say... a player who absolutely made the most out of the physical gifts he was given. I haven't seen anyone any better at using his body and getting into perfect post position, he should make a training video.
