Something new we are trying in athletics this year. First show was with Women's soccer head coach John Marovich. Still some kinks to be worked out and hoping to get more game footage for B-roll for the upcoming shows. Any feedback is appreciated. The goal is to keep these going throughout the season. The coaches seem excited to participate. We'll have our next coaches show will most likely be with Coach Carlson.

Way to go Fred!  Love it.  Are you also in the loop regarding some sort of Crusader Sports Network concept that would enable direct streaming of VU games in multiple sports off the VU Athletics web site rather than depending on the HLN?

Is this being broadcast on VU TV?  I think the idea of getting students more deeply involved with these programs can only help attendance.
Season Results: CBI/CIT: 2008, 2011, 2014  NIT: 2003,2012, 2016(Championship Game) 2017   NCAA: 1962,1966,1967,1969,1973,1996,1997,1998 (Sweet Sixteen),1999, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2013 and 2015

We haven't discussed putting it on VU TV, but that's not a bad idea. I'll ask about it.

Great idea.  I'd put some kind of Valpo insignia in your background rather than just the plain screen.  Also, don't forget to include assistant coaches in your segments.  Some of them have some interesting personal backgrounds...Good luck with the show!

Will coach Carson and members of this staff along with players be presented weekly. Maybe the offense and defense player of the week can come there to answer questions.. Allow for call in to the show and expand it to a one hour show... This will build on the Valpo fanbase.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.  Some of the stuff you mentioned we are planning to do already, like having more of a studio/set feel. Think of these first few editions like pilot episodes. If they do well I think you'll start seeing more and more of what you are mentioning.

The VUTV was a good idea. I contacted their programming director on Friday. Waiting for a call back...

Fred, I just watched the coaches show. I agree, the background was rather drab, and needed something to make it look brighter, and more "Hey! We're here!!", instead of, "I hope someone is watching"... Can't wait to see more episodes, and what some of the other sports and coaches are doing as the NCAA season goes on.

Concur with Valporun.  Hope from now on the FB show goes to the two person interview format used for the WSO show rather than the single face shot.  Good info from the interview though.

Valpo_Fred

Can you post a link to the show you are talking about so I can get a better idea of the format.

I'd expect the gray background for the next few shows. It's not by choice, but we're working on something else. Again, thanks everyone for the feedback.

Here's the one I was referring to as to the two person format.

Oh, I read your post wrong. Yes, that will be the format shoot for our shows. It's the best for what we are trying to do at this point.

The shorter interviews we've been doing with Coach Carlson are with just one camera.

You couldn't put some kind of Valpo banner behind the coach and Aaron, or even the brown Valpo sheet that hangs behind the postgame interviews in the ARC classroom?

Unfortunately it's not big enough for a two person shoot of that kind.

valporun

Even if it doesn't cover the entire "wall", it's at least something that isn't so dark that it makes it look like someone forgot to check to see if the light bulb would last the whole interview.
