@valpotx her team petitioned for her to be let go last season. Leaving two teams mid season bc she can’t stay out of trouble.  I hope no other university hires her. She is not a good coach!

@nativecheesehead the truth needs to be told.  Quit protecting the coaches and administrators.  They need to be held accountable.

@sportsfan ultimately cutting ties with people like her need to happen more often. It hurts the brand especially at a Christian institution.  Comparing letting her go to Small leaving is not the right thing to do. Completely different circumstances and motives.

They should have cut ties with her last season, I think that was the admin’s decision.  I’m not referring to Small leaving, I don’t know that story.  However when Pruess was let go/fired, did that story ever come out as to why? They need to stop protecting these people.

@sportsfan dude. At this point it's obvious you're either someone on an alt acct or a VU player who joined to vent. Lots of times this stuff is kept on the DL out of respect for the privacy of the parties involved. Especially scenerios like this. If the latter is true, I don't know your or your teammates experiences with the coach, but obviously she did something that hurt you guys. Maybe take this anger and frustration and turn it into something to drive you on the field.

Misdemeanor theft IN - value of the property is less than $750

Anything’s possible, but I have a hard time imagining a 48 year old university coach stealing makeup from Walmart. I think it’s more likely she misappropriated funds in her capacity as head coach.

@whvalpo Whoa 🙄  Less than $750. In today’s world that might be some “stretched” travel expenses or a new iPhone. But wouldn’t that have been handled internally without calling the municipal cops?  And if so, might the powers that be allow her to finish out the season for the sake of the players?

Look it doesn't matter if she stole from dollar tree or Sephora, the thing is she got booked for it. All of that is in public records at that point. I said earlier, but as soon as you get caught breaking the law as a public official. Your career is over. No matter what the charges were. SportsFan also said that there was prior issues with her getting along with the team. All of that adds up in the end.

Did I misunderstand? She was prosecuted? I thought she just got charged.

@vulb62 she also resigned from Akron in the middle of the season.  Maybe if whatever she did in that instant got pushed under the rug.  Had it not, VSB wouldn’t be put into a bad now. If she doesn’t get charged this goes away and she’ll coach somewhere else . That program has had too many turnovers. Until they get a good coach the program isn’t going to improve.

Based on a booking time of 11:45pm I doubt it was misappropriation of funds. If a complaint was filed by the University as an example, the arrest would very likely occur either in the morning or daytime as there'd be no reason to wait until the evening. The time indicates an arrest as an event was occurring. It's also hard to believe she'd be arrested for shoplifting a small item. So it was likely a "haul" large enough for the victim to press charges. It's also possible this is/was an ongoing issue.

TVB has the full story and the sad details  - Walmart. Failure to self-can THC vapes  and other stuff totaling a little under $70.  What a shame.

After reading the TVB details, it was misdemeanor petty theft, but also a firing/resignation that should have happened, when you're in a major leadership position of any sort. This arrest charge/booking does give her a chance to find another coaching position, but should probably come with a "show clause", like what a lot of football and basketball coaches get, when they've had previous charges or issues. Best of luck to her. Let's support the softball team on the rest of the season, and hope they add to their win total this season.
