I would guess that it is Jimmie Williams, but we likely need to wait until tomorrow to know for sure.
Ahmad Henderson II is nice get for UIC. Member of the All Rookie Team in the MAAC.
Not surprising but Jimmie Williams wound up receiving a nice list of mid major offers. Shooters find suitors! Maybe it is him and maybe someone just popped out of the clear blue skies. Like the rest of you I am excited just to receive some news and get off of dead center.
It looks like Illinois State is losing their leader in scoring, rebounding, and blocks. The transfer portal may rearrange the whole conference.
And with us tentatively adding sometime today, it would seem we have a shot at no longer being a laughing stock! Soon the only thing the MVC fans will be able to laugh at us for is the gym
Still pulling crickets almost a day post boom. Maybe we get the info tomorrow instead. Or a cruel April fools joke was just played
No joke. The Boom post is just Q’s teaser. Be patient - he’s never wrong.
BTW, unfortunately, we only have one more Boom to look forward to (unless one of our kids decides to xfer).
@vulb62 Hes the left hand man to Powell, right behind Ajay's right hand of Powell. Speculating who it is is going to be a nice dream. Maybe whoever it is just couldnt get in because of the rain. I'm still shocked there hasnt been any movement of our guys into the portal.

I’ll definitely give ya that.
Says something about Roger, yes?

He reminds me a lot of how my parents described Papa Drew and his mentality. Unfortunately I was too young to be able to experience first hand the era of "The Father". Hopefully we can get another AD who shares his mentality, and we can get our donors and the entirety of NWI to hop on the VU train. I feel like its time to remind the Valley just how threatening the ARC can be on gamedays. (and hopefully convince people to fund Powell's House)

I'm not sure retaining the entirety of a bad roster is a good thing. I, for one, am disappointed that some of these guys haven't been told to transfer or whatever means it takes to get them to go. Assuming that is not going to happen and we have two guys coming in, I don't look at this situation as all that positive. I hope I'm wrong but I don't think this is good if this is the case.

You also have to take into account player development right? Some of these guys have opportunities to develop their game.

That's quite possible. That's part of Powell's job to identify those worth keeping and those who should go. He himself said that, in effect, he'd be replacing guys if they didn't play better and/or give more effort which did not change with a few of them. Edwards in particular. It's inconceivable to me that the entire roster (those eligible) would be back but it appears that's what is happening.
Agreed on the development piece, especially as it relates to the FR. Everyone needs to remember how folks like Vashil, Darius, Diebler, and several others were perceived after their FR year. If the kids have the instincts and work ethic, it is worth the investment to see if they can improve over a full offseason after experiencing the jump to D-1 play.
One benefit we have is a young roster. The Region had a rich history of basketball prowess and these players can benefit from all the basketball minds around the area. Heck, I've mentioned a couple times about how Valpo basically wrote the book on how to shoot free throws effectively with Virgil Sweet. There us a lot of development to take place with our guys, and we are also getting McNair who is a close family friend of Powell. This kid has likely done training with powell before. I would like to see some of our older guys who didn't mesh right find new homes. Particularly Edward's. I feel like we haven't been out in the center market largely because Powell may trust the center we have to stay healthy. He already has a year of development under his belt being a red shirt.
