This is not a personal attack on Symmes either. From all accounts nice guy and players liked him.Just an odd hire from the get go having never played collegiately even or called an offense

Now wouldn't that fall on Coach Fox for hiring him?

I think the answer depends on the restrictions Fox has...particularly monetarily. For instance, there still is no announced replacement. What is the cause of the delay. Admittedly not an ideal time to recruit somebody but I'd think the position could have been filled by this point.
I believe Hibran is acting OC with quarterback responsibilities. Fox is coaching receivers and working closely with the offense. After 5 years if Fox can get the offense fixed Valpo will be in a really good spot.
We've got a new RB coach!

It's a cool move by VU. She's been preparing for this opportunity very seriously, and those efforts have put her in a position to learn a lot.
VU has been a revolving door for football assistants. It can't hurt to be a pioneer in this realm. I wish her much success.

She comes from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers program and the team has had multiple female position coaches over the past 5 years or so.
I didn't want to start a new thread on this topic, but good to see Solomon Davis catch 4 passes for 100+ yards in Central Michigan's win over Central Connecticut State. It will be interesting to see if he is like Navarro, and one of the few Valpo football transfers to adapt well to FBS.
Looks like Solomon Davis will get decent work at Central Michigan, so congrats to him! He only had 3 catches for 9 yards against FIU in a big loss, but he is getting the ball thrown to him at the FBS level!
On the other side, former Valpo QB Mason Kaplan played in 1 game at QB for Illinois State last season, and is now a LB at that school. It doesn't look like he has played in their first 2 games.
With so many transfers from VU in football, it turns out that the grass was not greener in terms of playing time, not by a long shot.
Athletes in all sports at all schools transfer for many reasons and not all of them have to do with the sport the athlete plays.
Before the portal era Donny was the only successful VU xfer, few others played special teams up a level.
Looks like Wade Abrams has played at South Dakota which stinks we could use him, Keyon Turner still getting in games there.
Jamauri Jackson gets pt for Sac State, Brett Gray at WCU and Dom Grguric at bowling green.
Maybe an uptick in recruiting , or more of a dependence on it from larger schools. We could use all of those guys back on the roster
Kaplan at LB is interesting with his exit from Valpo tough kid, could have used him last year when Mikey went down
The home season starts Saturday night and I noticed a couple of new things going on. All very positive! First, the general admission seating is now $14 versus $10. Second, there is a concerted effort to make this an "event", rather then just a football game. Those efforts include food trucks, bounce houses, half-time fireworks and premium seating, cash bar, food, etc in the end zone for up to $34. I like it a lot!
Now, go out and win! I think that for one thing we will perhaps be bigger in the line--finally-- and if we get Tyler and Mansaray going, it could be a lot of fun! GO VALPO!
Solomon with another 2 receptions for 34 yards and 1 rush for 9 yards against Illinois. Good for him!
