I've had the chance to visit with her via the phone and was very much impressed. A great decision!
I would like to believe we've learned our lessons in the past about automatically elevating folks in Athletics, something others on this board also have opposed. I would be fine if Hosmer were the best candidate in an open process, something I think should already have taken place, but simply dropping the "interim" title without a wide hiring search seems to follow an unwise precedent.

Was she named the AD officially? I am assuming so as that is the sentiment shown here. From what I saw around the college athletics sphere there were not many candidates willing to jump ship. I assume she was the best candidate available that fit Padilla and the boards vision for Valpo Athletics. I also assume that this process was very expedited in order to get back on track with projects in the athletic department. From what I have seen/heard from people I know in the athletic department, she knows her stuff.

VU's announcement that Laurel Hosmer is now the AD (sans interim) invites some obvious speculation as to the reasons behind the odd, anonymous allegations of inappropriate conduct lodged against her partner.
The obvious one is that someone was trying to sink her chances of being named AD.
I hope the culprits are identified and dealt with appropriately.
Same, David81. From what I've heard from a few people it seems pretty clear that the university both knew about these allegations before the letters were posted and was already in the process of investigating who was making them after deeming them fraudulent. I'm sure it has been a trying time for the AD and I hope their is some clarity and justice soon.
More allegations and screen grabs have been posted on reddit regarding the conduct of Brandon Riggers. However, I have yet to see these be taken to any other platform. The screen grabs seem very sketchy are are always posted by fresh burner accounts. I hope the university is taking decisive action to find the perpetrators making these posts.
This whole thing is starting to smack of one lone nut with a grudge. All the “evidence” looks and sounds the same, and while they claim to have sent letters to the attorney general, is there any evidence that the letter was ever sent? Or is it just the same screengrab mudslinging posted from so many anonymous burner accounts?
I think it got beyond the starting to sound like stage within a couple of quick reads of the "evidence" whenever it was that the story became public. I hope they find the person doing it.
I've tuned out from any possibility of this being true, long ago.
I would really just like a few months without some major drama in and around this department. From coaches getting arrested, ADs leaving without warning, more vague promises of a new arena with no timeline or funding, and now this bizarre story. I think anyone with common sense realizes these accusations are false, but then who is spreading them and why? 11 other school in the MVC don't have someone trying to blackmail their AD's SO (granted, some have other drama). This whole thing is just strange.
All we can do at this venture is wait for the investigation to finish. We know the person is aware of this forum after all
