Jesus the amount of open looks and good shots that just turn up dry is starting to get super painful. Cannot sustain if you cannot get points off of good shots.

I’m not sure that besides Darius that the starters are going to see the floor. 2nd unit has been playing awesome! They got the lead in the first half too!
Really strong win for a team that just needed one. Hopefully this level of 3 point shooting is here to stay. The bench continues to pull through for this roster which is certainly much deeper than last year.
Very encouraging second half performance to say the least. Great to see such depth. Schmidt and McNair looked fantastic and Sepp continues to be the unsung hero of this team. Gotta keep this going for the two games we got the rest of the week.
A good win, though a game that is hard to define. Some terrific performances, especially by Schmidt, McNair, and Sepp. However, all came off the bench. Not so stellar stats for some of the starters, including Cooper Schwieger and Ellis, who were only 2-12 between them.
Also, despite a blowout victory by nearly 30 points, the team shooting percentages were only #39% from the field (less than E. Illinois) and 32% from the 3-point line, thanks to a good second half of 50% on both. This comes despite playing at home against a team at #311 on the Net ranking. On the other hand, this Valpo squad refreshingly seems to be proving its ability at the free throw line with another remarkable effort (23-25).
I am still looking for the complete team to excel in a game, hopefully against N. Illinois (#298 Net Ranking), so that Valpo will be prepared to play well against DePaul.
This was a very good win for Valpo and one that answered some questions about the depth of this team. Good things happen with we hit the 3.

That was great to see! The first half was a bit frustrating, as it felt like Valpo should have been up more with as many offensive rebounds as it snatched. But, beggars can't be choosy, and we've all been begging for a comfortable win like this. I'm eager to see how Valpo stacks up with DePaul on Friday. An encouraging week for the brown and gold!

1. Sepp is so high IQ, a nose for the ball
2. We have depth at guard.
3. Tyler Schmidt is the John Kiser/glue guy. Can score in a variety of ways, good handles plays under control. Will be hard to keep him off the floor. High IQ
4. Cooper l had an off day and the team still won convincingly
5. We are a problem in the MVC if we have reliable shooters. Will open things up for Cooper. Opponents are daring us to shoot from 3.
6. Ellis needs touches closer to basket. win his spot before the entry pass
7. start McNair over All Wright
8. Marty Simmons needs to retire
9. NIU is awful and worse than EIU.
A few notes:
1) Nice to see us a dominate a D1 opponent again. Sepp, Schmidt, and McNair were really impressive. Don’t know where we’d be without Schmidt. We’ll have to figure that out before next year.
2) The offense still struggles to get generate open looks in the half court. We had multiple long scoring droughts and then a few big bursts. These will doom us against good opponents.
3) they played with a ton of intensity today, especially on defense.
4) this EIU team just went to OT with northwestern and lost by 9 against DePaul.
5) the game day experience SUCKS. I was in town for thanksgiving so I went for the first time this season with somebody who’s never been to a VU game before. Their first comment when we walked in was “this is a D1 school? My high school gym was nicer than this”. The concessions SUCK. Absolute garbage. Popcorn is stale, dry, and flavorless. Tastes like packing peanuts. The pretzel was essentially sawdust held together by water and Elmer’s glue. The workers are clueless, you have to order 3 or 4 times before you get what you want. We asked for a lemonade and were given a spiked Simply Lemonade. Why was the scoreboard changed to show a love of the game during the game? It only shows stats during timeouts. Who is craning their neck to watch the game on the video board when they could just look straight ahead, the mice in the mezzanine section? Also, how are bleacher tickets TWENTY DOLLARS??
That was nice. Way to spread the ball around. A good confidence booster. It's been too long since we've clobbered a D1 opponent.
@vok22 I think we can thank Van Wagner Sports and Entertainment for the mess. Valpo messed up when they signed an agreement with them.
