@jd24  I hear what you are saying.  But then Dennis Rodman was not Godzilla - pretty skinny as I recall (didn’t  they call him the worm?).  How many times did he lead the NBA in RBs? Then there’s Sir Charles Barkley.  Wide body, but short (6’6”) by NBA standards.  Rebounding is all about attitude and positioning i.e., wanting to be just  in a position to grab the rebound. I see those. qualities in Sepp.  I haven’t seen that intense drive in Coop this year.  Add that attitude to his. 6’10’” 230# frame and you have a force.  I’m not saying he needs to play like 5 and just protect the rim. But a 4, his real position,  needs to also operate down low and look for rebounds.

Sepp also looks taller than his listing at 6'7".  He might have really long arms, but when he goes up for rebounds, he looks like he is closer to 6'8" or 6'9"

@david81 A good, immediate indication of program progress will be in evidence on Friday at Western Michigan. Will our youngsters come out motivated and intense after their mixed review performance at Ohio State, or will they reflect a team that still doesn’t know who they are? Another DI win following a P5 loss, that at points were closer than the final indicated, would make a statement that they starting to establish the identity they are searching for.

@vulb62 it appears this young team suddenly realized what was at stake with about 5 minutes to go against Western Michigan. Wow!

Quickness also factors into rebounding in addition to basic "want to".

@jd24  And I’d add anticipation as well. There are some guys who just instinctively know where the ball will go and how to get to that spot. Others watch the ball and react afterward.  Sepp seems to find a way to be in the right spot quite often.

In today’s game v. WMU,   Coop got an injection of something in the second half and showed some of these qualities we’ve talked about - thankfully. He needs to bottle that serum and take a dose every game, preferably at the start of our games, not wait until there are 6 minutes left. 😉
