That is one of the most impressive wins I can remember since joining the Valley outside of 2020 Arch Madness. Very impressive to control that game throughout. Let's keep it going!

May try and tiptoe my way into the west bleachers to help em out dad! After all I am college age and still know how to do the goofy cadenceds  🤣

On another note MO State is keeping it neck and neck with Bradley at the half in Peoria. I may be drinking the Kool-Aid a little early here, but Valpo may actually be...Good. Not just "competitive", but actually a good team.

Most significant program win since maybe Peters senior year. There have been another notables but PO’s article about how there were no flukes or let downs hits hammer on head.

Valpo basketball went out and controlled the game from the 5 minute mark against a team with tournament aspirations.

Well done.

This program and this university need some wins, big and small.

I'm encouraged!

Big wins….. outside of arch madness run and the Covid year win over Drake, The 19-20 season. The home win over Bradley in February where we hit 18 or 19 threes. Frazekas, Kiser, JFL and Maleek could not miss.

concur the UNI message board is gold. Started off as a guaranteed win, to let’s make a run, we got them in the second half, to Valpo has a solid team and the crowds actually showed up.

& how’s this for trivia… we are now 5-0 versus directional university’s on the season. When is the last time that has happened?

Missouri state have two of the better shooting guards in the league. Brady had a good game versus us and several other games on the season. He nearly erupted for a 30 burger against Bradley on Saturday. U of Indy transfer

Great win!

Who were the announcers today, and why not the home team with Ickow?

Dont know if anyone mentioned it, but those were the MVC ESPN announcers. This was "game of the week"

Ohhhhh...that's noteworthy...more street cred for VU, a game of the week win in its modest little ARC.

I really do hope that we get more than 2,000 on Wednesday, as Indiana State usually brings some fans with them to the ARC, as well.  I haven't been on campus since our March 2012 Horizon League tournament games against Butler and Detroit, and would love to someday get back to those atmospheres.  I also attended the NCAA tournament game against Maryland a few seasons later, sitting one row behind Rik Smits, which I didn't understand why he was there, at the time.  I really want to experience an MVC tournament, and if we continue to be competitive this season, you can count my family of 6 in for the first time!  That Butler game was ridiculous to be part of, as the place was rocking between Valpo and Butler fans, and I had some good-natured trash talk with the Butler fans just about every possession, but from the chairback section for the first time.  This season I have noticed folks that I graduated with that are starting to show up at games dancing and cheering during game streams.  That is a good sign if you have those of us from the 2000-2004 graduate time period coming back for games, as it means that they are starting to see signs of life in our program.

This thread wasn't opened until 3:51 at halftime.  It seems to have worked so maybe we should continue to do this? Thinking

I can't begin to express how impressed I am with the progress. This Valpo team would beat the team that played Cleveland State by double digits. Running plays, getting open shots, playing tough defense and fighting for rebounds. Seems like everyone's roles are more defined now and the players have bought into that. Shining examples of that are Kaspar Sepp and Tyler Schmidt. Those two combined for 18 minutes in the CSU game and 57 in yesterday's game. On the flip side, Shaw played for 23 against CSU and only 5 yesterday.

Part of me wonders why Schmidt and Sepp weren't playing more earlier in the year, but really pleased that Powell adapted and found something that worked and has been sticking with it. This includes effectively benching Shaw despite the deep connection to the Drew family.

The game against Indiana State on Wednesday is being marketed as a "Gold Out". Would love to see another big crowd against an in state opponent. The word is starting to get around that the basketball team might be worth watching again. The announcers alluded to this yesterday, but now that we have strung together a couple of wins and close losses to league contenders, the next step in competing in the league is to keep winning at home not matter the caliber of opponent. Road letdowns will happen in this league, but good teams win at home.
