I was actually just doing the same.  I agree that they should have won if they shot FTs better, but you never know what would have happened over the rest of the game, if they had done so.  We had only 1,471 fans in attendance?  It seemed like more, just like it seemed like a lot more than 1,917 last game.

Also, we have to give kudos to Shaw in this game.  He came in and played some decent defense, got a few rebounds, and his 5 points were in a critical part of the game.  I know that others are critical of him at this point, but I really like his shot overall.  He is smooth, and it is really when he hesitates that he throws himself off.  He needs to just catch and shoot, a la a Jason Jenkins, with the occasional drive.

I wouldn't say this team is simply improved from last year. I would say this team could drop 20+ points on last years team. Powell has a shot in St Louis. Hop on the bandwagon if you want.

The attendance figures are obviously incorrect.  Yes agreed if ISU made more free throws that might have won them the game, however the foul calling was so strict that our defenders had to back off, because they would have called a foul. Good game, good to build positive momentum and we have pretty solid guard play, overall just missing a rim protector. Very balanced scoring tonight. Lets hope we really pack the ARC the next few Saturday home games. I'm curious to see if we can make a game of it in Kentucky Saturday, Racers are starting to play better and I think will be a difficult matchup for us.

Yeah 1.4k is so wrong. I would think 1.4k would be e tifkets purchased and ESPN doesn't count will calls. Which Valpo seems to get a lot of

I was present at the ARC saturday and tonight... at least as many tonight as saturday seemed like more. There was legit crowd noise too.

Rez... correct the sycamore forum was hilarious... a combo of ref whine, profanity,  insults and self hate on their own staff. Lets go. No one wants to admit we are decent- its always bad refs or poor coaching... wake up Valpo is here.

Really liked how the team stayed tough despite losing a pretty big second half lead. This ultimately ended up being a 50-50 game and Valpo came through. Nice win.

I watched the game again and reviewed the stat sheet this morning. Glad for the win because I concluded the Sycamores are the better team.

There is a ceiling for what our 9 man rotation can deliver and we are fast approaching it. I'll call it maybe 11 Valley wins? As good as that sounds after the Lottich disaster years it still is not where Roger Powell would like to take us and for that we still need a center. Matt Graves played 10 with larger bench minutes and points while giving sophomore center Derek Vorst a major opportunity to develop. Meanwhile our centers were resting comfortably on the bench. This may make a difference in future results for both teams?

A very good and entertaining win despite the disruption caused by the officials throwing off the rhythm with so many free throws: 74! Thank goodness that is a strength of the team this year, and VU won by 14 points at the line. This game was important to put Valpo in position for a possible move up to the top tier in the standings this year, but the next four games could prove the turning point, one way or another.

The past three wins have been against an 0-5 team and in two home games. Good results, but the next stretch gets tougher. The drama and the stakes increase. The next four games are even more crucial since three will be on the road and the lone home game will be against a fine UIC team. Valpo is currently tied for 2nd...or 9th, and the next quartet of games will determine which spot is closer to the truth. We will know much better where the team stands by end of the Jan. 22 game against Drake. This should be interesting!

Valpo is now averaging more than 25 free throw attempts per game, 14 greater than last year, and they are 9th in the nation in free throw percentage at 79.6%, 7.3% better than last year. They are 4th in the nation in free throws made per game (just above 20 and double last year's number). This greater aggressiveness to the basket and better shooting has been a big difference, which fully accounts for the 10 points per game higher output this year (76.6 - 66.5).

LOL the ISU posters are now complaining about how funny it is that other forum posters come to their forum to have a good laugh. Hey ISU fans, maybe dont insult a player just because he is putting a clinic on you and we wont be laughing at you!
