Still hoping we can find an Aaron Dawson in the portal!  I won't be greedy and ask for a Robert Washington, as that was a one-in-a-lifetime get for Valpo Football, so I will "settle" for a Dawson Smile

@valpofb16   Ya know, I’m getting to the where I am concluding that the staff right now is recruiting sleepers. The last two posts have N/A as “other offers”.  No splashes. Hopefully just solid players who can develop.  Does that sound plausible?

But……….  in this crazy collegiate sports world today, at the end of the ‘25 season, IMHO, we have to be at least equal to ‘24 as a starting point for this program to advance.  To do that we need to also recruit a few players equal to or better than those we’ve lost to graduation and the portal. And that means we need some difference makers, out of the blocks,  from the portal or else we will wind up losing even more guys to the portal, cuz they want to be associated with a competitive program.

We will see how the portal shakes out. We are recruiting kids from very strong programs. Fox’s philosophy was to redshirt as many freshman as humanly possible.

I have no idea what Waddles policy is here (he may not have one having never had the option). There have been no PFL wins yet in recruiting. But I’d say class is 50% full on freshman and 10-15 more transfers could come.

With what was stated on the zoom and Marietta’s rebuild. I think this will be a slow process with emphasis on retention and development.

We will see how it goes

@valpofb16 So Jake Russel just xferred to Central Michigan. Unless he is assured of a starting position and all conference, it’s a like-for-like at a marginally higher level. He’ll never ever get an NFL sniff. He says he loved Valpo, but……..

CMU was 4-8 last year. MAC. FBS Wanna-be.  Bigger stadium.  Larger crowds.  He’ll enjoy the atmosphere from the sidelines. At Valpo he’d be on the field. Jeez!

@vulb62 not so sure about the that. Solomon Davis just went there and started. Valpo lost its only Fbs game 65-3. CMU handled Central Connecticut State 66-10, who beat Valpo in their best years post 2000.

Fox upped the talent to a point where four players will be on scholarship at FBS schools next year. Symmes hire was a huge glassdoors moment

I Hope He Did Enough Due Diligence To Assure Himself That He Will Get Plenty Of Playing Time - Otherwise, My Concern Is Valid.  And A Full Ride Is A Full Ride, I Suppose, Whether You Get Game Minutes Or Not.

The fact we had 4 transfers go FBS is amazing. I watch enough college this year to be surprised Hawk hasn't found a home. Arizona State has campus tryouts during the season..

It will be interesting to see what happens to the transfer portal this summer and the following years.  With the Juco ruling, I have to believe Community College and NAIA will be given the same treatment, so you will see a lot of 5th, 6th, and 7th year guys taking away scholarships from graduating HS kids, as well as FR and SO in college, in this "win now" culture.

So, where does the very good (but not 4*)  HS athlete go to get into this crazy oscillating   treadmill? I am totally clueless. But thank you NCAA for putting all young athletes on an inscrutable, uneven plane, treating all with disrespect, unequanimity and then putting $$$$$ ahead of integrity.

And we all know it’s all about FBS football.  Ya  think our cross country runners are getting big bucks? Don’t think so.

This is disgusting. Case in point:  Ohio State’s $20 million NIL FB player payroll. If they win the CFP,  they didn’t.  They outright BOUGHT IT.

Bottom line in the future: FBS football will spin off as a singular identity. They Will dictate university presidential appointments.   All other sports will become (come back) sidebarsto the big show.

So who is the villian? Easy.  ESPN,  CBS, NBC, ABC, TBDS, NFL NETWORK, ETC.
