Very difficult task against a well coached team. Only can hope that Stirtz has an off night and we find ways to shoot well and or get to the free-throw line. Line is -14 Drake. I could see us covering, barely, but we must get off to a good start! Very curious to see if Scroggins plays and what if any effect he has.

@rezynezy agreed that was an unfortunate few minutes to fall behind.. should definitely answer those questions for many.. They went down a quick 6 points (then more) in a few positions.
However, I don’t think the rest of the lineup was the right mix while he was in (Darius, Wright, McNair, Shaw).. might be better to put him in with Cooper on the court.. He did have two what would be blocks after others fouled due to someone getting burned.. Not saying he is some big solution, but in small doses, with the right lineup, could be an acceptable/quick change of landscape for opposing team.
@stephengries89 I personally dont think that Louth is the right play because of how quick Drake can play. Sure they like to go slow and methodical. Buit they are still quick to get short windows. Louth just couldnt keep up on D IMOP
Roger continuing to not back his players , GET A T OR SOMETHING. Horrible horrible! Same shit as Lottich , Roger is such a better coach , but my god it’s game after game…
@rezynezy 100%, methodical but still move quick within the their set offense, lots of good movement.

Honestly Rez, that comment is laughable IMO , you know how much it would help OUR long term success if our players knew Roger would go to bat for them. Which I know he does, but in game he needs to. Yeah short term not great , but we get run over by the refs semi consistently. refs had been ok until the Schweiger charge call. That was horrible. I don’t think you understand what motivates college athletes…I’ve coached over 100 since 2017…
Ben M playing chess, Powell Checkers. Game was lost on the defensive end. Couldn't guard for the whole shot clock in the first half. They carved us up in the paint. Yes lacking a true 5, but most of it is the well oiled system Ben M runs.
This is difficult to watch the team go through this stretch, but it's building character for next year and our young bucks are getting valuable playing time. Whats proven is that we fight to the end and don't throw in the towel, but our defense is loosing most of these games for us, not our shooting or effort.
Would like to see Ellis play more. Not sure why he's out of favor?
The Drake color guy Adam Emmenecker is one of the better one's in conference. Knows the game and isn't really a cheerleader for his former team.
I'm thinking that the reduced minutes for Sepp did help in keeping us somewhat close but when Drake shoots well I'm not certain we have the roster to threaten. We had some positives but not enough.
Man hate to obsess on one thing.. but that 2 min or so lineup with Louth and ALL guards resulted in going down 9 points, and changed the script.
Still, so much improvement with this team and so excited to watch our guys play every game. Extremely fortunate to have Powell and the coaching staff that believes in the program.
With 3 of our starting lineup new to VU, many underclassman, and much of the team first season together.. there was a lot to accomplish quickly from a chemistry perspective and they are close, definitely room for them to continue finding the grove and refine. I think they have the ability still this year to make a run.. looking forward to the next stretch with easier schedule and some good/tough rematches. If we can see players stay for next year and get another big (and maybe have Carson / other forwards develop) we will be a top team in MVC. There’s no doubt fans can help play a role in that.
