This is the coaching attitude I want to see more often as an intimidator of officials during games.

It wasn't just 2 or 3 missed calls on Cooper, it was several more, and several against other Valpo players that were just not called.  On the other end, we barely nudge a guy going to the basket, and it is automatically called.  I don't mind ticky tack fouls being called, if they go both ways.  That was a game where it was blatantly obvious, and it always happens in Evansville.  Even our really good teams that were known for driving to the hoop over the last 20 years, don't get the same calls in that arena that we do elsewhere.  Does the MVC rotate referees regardless of where they live?

Also, I don't know how you can say that it didn't affect the outcome of the game.  Each of those non-foul calls and the goaltend, happened during Evansville's run to take the lead, when it was close.  If several of those were called, it's a completely different dynamic for the last 8 minutes.

It’s feast or famine with this team. If the 3s are falling then look out. If not….

Evansville made adjustments. We did not. Gotta give them credit.

Given the offensive problems in the second half, and Shaw's performance in the first half, wouldn't he have been a good choice prior to 3 minutes left? Especially when they went zone.

And how about a zone for us against a team that doesn't shoot threes well and was killing us inside?

Given Wright's hot shooting in the first half, wouldn't it have been good if Coach Powell had abandoned the ridiculous have-to-sit with two fouls in the first-half rule, a mistake most coaches make, and played more than 9 minutes in the first half?

I still don’t understand what happened to Louth and Devon. Caspar is a tough kid but was WAY undersized versus Evansville but, nonetheless, neither Devon or Louth saw the floor. They both are bigger and thicker than the guys on the floor. Heck, Devon was a starter and now? I’m sure they are both gone for sure and my guess is Rogerhas already told them that.

There were a couple of calls that could have gone Valpo's way but that's the game and what can happen on the road. Big man problems? Yes. However 3 instances of inside play which was just lack of awareness and/or laziness cost 3 buckets. An offensive rebound which the Aces player just went around Schwieger and twice Cooper was caught napping with passes to point blank range which never should have gotten there. The key to preventing inside scoring is to keep the scorer from touching the ball.

Agreed on the calls and clearly some bad ones, that impacted the outcome. Ragland out coached Powell. Obviously we lack a big post presence, but more teams will make us win from three. We needed either more penetration by Monegro/posting up etc or getting, Sepp, Cooper or Shaw some open looks/jump shots in the lane. Shaw has shown some mid-range touch off curls and could be effective in a zone. Again no doubt the officiating was not good, but Powell needs a counter punch on offense. Defensive awareness and post presence is not going to improve much until we land some bigs in the portal. Great that he got a technical and showed fight for his team. That's fine, but tactically Ragland made his move to the zone and we didn't change anything on offense.

Cooper has some mechanical issues in his three point shot, that needs work in the off season.

I ran into some kind of Comcast or computer issue and missed all of the second half. Sounds like I was the lucky one and those of you who were less fortunate suffered pretty greatly. Are there enough positives from the second half to compell me to watch the ESPN+ replay? Maybe I should watch the first half again and then just stop?

If you enjoy a stubborn lack of offense and getting pounded in the paint by the opponent, it'll be 20 mins of game time well worth the watch.

Like several games eventually lost... in good control for 30 minutes and a combo of bad breaks bad offense and bad refs things spin out. Does seem like Cooper gets little respect... a couple no calls an obvious goaltend and now the missed bunnies start. I think RP coulda shoulda lost his cool after the hack on a cooper dunk, ticky tac on valpo and the goaltend all in like 1 minute of gametime. Maybe then we get a call or two last 8 minutes. The symbolic ejection... I get it -after wright got knocked out of bounds -but it seemed a little late response to a substandard day by refs. Shaw 14 pts in 14 minutes... i dunno maybe a few more minutes? Sepp clearly overmatched inside second half... more Carson? I dunno. Find a way to go 2-2 avoid last place win a game in St Louis and get a couple  physical bangers in the portal.

I do have to say that I know this will never change with 18-22 year old kids, but I really wish we would stop trying to dunk over the defender, when the defender already has good position and we know that they will have a good contest.  Just go up strong with a layup or use your body to protect the ball when in the air.  Not everything has to be an "in your face" dunk, whenever we have a breakaway.  This has happened multiple times this year and last year, in many cases leading to a missed shot and no foul called.

I understand this, but 8/10 times. Its a good way to draw a foul call and guarantee yourself the old fashioned 3 point play.

Been calling for some 🔥 attitude from our head coach since pursed lips ML, some of you think it’s weak but overall this helps us in what is hopefully several more years with RJP.  You can complain about the officials all you want yada yada(win your game, be better etc) BUT we have been run over by the officials. There are clear calls every 2/3 games that are just simply the wrong call. We get some going our way, but I’d love an independent study of our games! Regardless we know win out until Sunday March 10th, get some CBS airtime, but lose in the title game 🤯😎 ??

I'm sure we'll be talking about that technical foul for years in a similar fashion to The Shot.
