Lucky to win after giving up 15 ORebs and being out rebounded by 18.

I’m beginning to be more worried about how many enter the transfer portal.

Glad we won but it’s lipstick on a pig. Hoping that one player carries the team to victory isn’t a sustainable plan.

The team has deficiencies that will need to be addressed.

I think it’s more about who we keep versus who leaves.

If we keep Cooper and Wright and maybe Jefferson, then we’ll be ok.

Louth and Ellis seem to be gone. Maybe Scroggins depending on if they think he can develop.

Sepp, Shaw, McNair, and Carson fall into a category of nice to keep but ultimately replaceable.

Key contributers arent going to leave unless they get life changing money. Everyone else is on the portal watch

Louth and Scroggins are either redshirting or already indicating that they are entering the portal.  Ugly win tonight, and I was prepared to rant on the crappy shot selection, until All got hot, but even then, he still tried to force way too much.  He saved the game, so I have to give him credit.  Back to Louth and Scroggins, I just don't see how you don't put each in for a few minutes, even if it is just to foul their wide-bodied and undersized big.  Their size and extra pounds would have to play better against him, as he was even bullying Sepp with his low post work.  Even if they fouled in those situations, it isn't any different than what others were doing, and it isn't like we get a ton of offense from Sepp, though I love his overall contributions.

Also, did anyone else think that Jeff was going to miss at least one of his late game FTs, similar to a few of the earlier games this season?  Glad to see that he took his time and stayed in the moment.

Powell subbed in Wright for McNair with 7:44 remaining and no further changes were made down the stretch run. A grand total of 27 minutes were cumulatively logged by Ellis, Shaw, McNair and Schmidt meaning 173 minutes played by our starters. Thinking

5 game win improvement and 4/5 top minutes played players have the eligibility to come back. I consider this a successful season. Get 2-3 guys in the summer that can help round out an 8-9 man rotation in big games and 16-18 wins shouldn’t be out of the question.

Now if All wright or Schwieger transfer….

No doubt transfers from our best players are a concern and likely our NIL resources are not as good as the other conference schools. Don't think this hurts, but Powell does appear to have the locker room in order with his star players. Outside of Kobe King and Krikke that was not the case with Matt Lotich. I get that players leave for better deals over fit and relationship with coaches (Jim Larranaga earlier this year with Miami) Powell has built relationships from the beginning, before they stop foot on campus from our best players. This should help.

I also agree with the poster above. All Wright's shot selection is not always the best/he forces to much but he did bail us out when nobody else was hitting last night. He has the guts to want the ball and take the shots. He's kinda a hard player to defend because I think his speed is underrated. As time goes on he will hopefully improve his shot selection. Also other teams will be aiming to stop him, so he's going to have to make a lot of contested shots.

Ugly game, MO State plays pretty good perimeter defense plus neither team could make a three. Plenty of open looks on both sides. A Win boosts the overall record improvement heading into the offseason which will be key for the recruiting trial. From mid March to May first, will be very interesting with the transfer portal!

Bench was short last night and it was well earned. Nothing.

Wright should be a 2 guard.

I respectfully disagree here. Wright ideally defends other teams point, this would eliminate a lot of cross matching.

he has a 2:1 A/T ratio and almost a 26% usage rate. He’s a high volume tweener and a FR PG in the MVC. Theoretically, his distributing and shot selection should get better with age, as it does for many CBB players.

i think the bigger issue is Cooper is not a 5 defensively which has hurt us all season. I agree we need a big but requesting that guys play who have logged 64 minutes this season is probably not the answer.

a 6’8-6’9 traditional big in the portal and JT Pettigrew I think would take this team up quite a notch
