No conference match up is good for Valpo this year except for Belmont evidently. All of us few remaining die hards left want to see to the team close out the season strong and get to 500, which would be good for the recruiting trail and provide us with a little optimism from April to October. Line is -6.5 SIU. How motivated are the Salukis after dropping a tough one "at home" Wednesday. Do we see scoring from Darius and or Schmidt? Will All Wright show up for at least one half, as he has played better at home than on the road. Finally, Can our offense survive any long cold spells, because we know our defense can't be relied on in the paint. A balanced team scoring effort tonight and we can pull off the W.

yupp, Roger doesn’t have the moxy to lead a team or coaching staff, they’re too complacent on the bench. WEAK
I'm furious about this season. I never bought into Lottich so was never really disappointed but I fully bought into Powell + Co. I had hoped for our season to be UIC's season.
I guess we can still win this game but I am not seeing an intentional plan for this team.

I had hoped for that as well but never really saw that as realistic this year. We took a team with no interior defense and no shooting, and added no interior defense and no shooting. Even when we were 10-6 and 3-2 in conference it still felt like 9-11 was the most attainable goal.
Going into the season I was realistically expecting a 6 win conference season, and that is probably what we will get. Unfortunately, HOW we got to that number, involving a 9 game losing streak, gives the program a very hopeless taste looking forward.
The fact of the matter is that we are going to roughly double our win total from last year, go back to back MVC freshmen of the year, and get back our leading scorer from 2023 next season. If this was 2017 I’d be all in on the beacons next year. In reality it is 2025, I am almost positive both Cooper and Wright will be gone to the portal. Cooper is going to maximize value before he regresses further, and Wright is clearly a valuable scorer for a low level power 5 / big east team that has 75-100k to throw at him.
if you have a hard time watching this team, just wait until next year when it’s this team minus Cooper and Wright. Could be a winless conference season if we have as lackadaisical of a portal effort as we did last offseason.
I don’t blame Powell. I think if he ended up at a larger mid major public university with some wealthy alumni he’d have them firing on all cylinders. I don’t doubt he TRIED to bring in elite talent through the portal last year, but anybody whos worth bringing in is worth money and we simply don’t have it.
I have blind faith that we can keep our best players.
