Valpo takes down Ohio State 10-7 today, which is our first win over the Buckeyes, though just 3 games played against each other now. Ohio State doesn't appear to be good this year, but a win against a large school is a quality win. We are now 3-6 on the season, having beaten Niagara, Memphis, and the Buckeyes.
For those whining about how bad Valpo athletics are—TAKE HEART!! The baseball team which had previously beaten Ohio State, just beat Illinois! And, our softball team now has 12 wins, more wins since 1999. But I know, some would rather gravel in self pity.
yes people are pumped that although our sports programs are in the dumps and no way to get out...a few non conference wins in minor sports will alleviate those concerns...honestly -except for the parents ...no one cares what these other teams do...we are supposed to be a basketball school but im afraid those days are loooong gone

I know several baseball-and other athletes ...most really dont give a shit...great if they win but in the scheme of their own lives ...whatever...now on the other hand of we were able to get to march madness in basketball....
I get it, but when we make the NCAA tourney in these other sports, people start to care. We got close in my playing days 20 years ago, but 2012 and 2013 were really fun years to watch those seasons and the subsequent tourneys. I understand that alumni "feel" it more when basketball is down, however.
