Interesting that because of COVID, Jacob didn’t interact much with the team. Not having a roommate didn’t seem to help either. He didn’t elaborate much on what the actual “not a good fit” issues were.

Don’t coaches typically sit down with players to discuss whether they have any concerns or issues about the team, university life, etc. to get ahead of these kinds of issues? Perhaps it was done with Jacob. Seems like doing that well before the portal opens would be wise to get ahead of problems so the coach would have time to address and do something about it if possible.
It's tough for anyone that is a West Virginia fan, as things never seem to go their way. DeVries is out for the IU job. This college basketball landscape is just asinine. WVU fans received 8 games of Tucker, paid for his recovery, and won't get to see him for a full season, as he is obviously going to follow pops to IU. We get burned in our own ways, but the lower tier P4 teams get theirs, as well.

Watching the Santa Clara vs UC Riverside N.I.T. game tonight I noticed a 6'9" player for Santa Clara named Jake Ensminger. He happens to be the son of former Valpo Crusader, Chris Ensminger. Jake was born in the US but currently lives in Ulm, Germany where his father, Chris, is head coach of Ratiopharm High School. Ratiopharm is where Jake played his HS basketball.
Jake Ensminger - 2024-25 - Men's Basketball - Santa Clara University
Played high school basketball for Ratiopharm Ulm in Germany, who is coached by his father, Chris ... Played two seasons for OrangeAcademy in the German Pro B South League ... Averaged 7.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 2021-22 .. Earned eurobasket.com Pro B All-Honorable Mention ... Helped OrangeAcademy advance to the division semifinals ... Was the leading rebounding of the Adidas Next Generation Tournament at 12.3 boards per game ... Had six games with at least 10 points and three games with 10-plus rebounds for OrangeAcademy in 2021-22.
Born in the United States, but spent the majority of his life living in Germany ... Majoring in business ... Father, Chris, was a four-year star at Valparaiso who left the team in 1996 as the program's all-time leading rebounder.
I wonder if he even gave Valpo a look and/or if we recruited him?
