The biggest boom last year was for a guy who really ended up showing nothing. So lets hope the boom is appropriate.

This is another commit yet to be mentioned. Fair to say the expectation is several more booms as soon as this week.

Assuming Valpo isn't only suiting up 8 guys, I would think so.

Several Twitter accounts, one that appears to be a parody, cited that Roberts had committed to Valpo. That was not the case.
I am as disgusted as anybody with the state of college bb etc. But if its going to be one year/season pick up games maybe RP can actually gain ground on a given year... the days of watching the development and growth over several seasons is probably gone. That said watching film of Dease and Barnes lets be honest big upgrade on both wings- athletically sizewise and shooting ability. Tupuola straight up dominated our guys head to head last year. Play a full game and the guy goes 30 and 20 on us. Pettigrew in the mix... Mcnair and Chaney. Raw talent wise better at 4 positions and actually have a dedicated big. It was tough watching Schmidt get matched up with 6 8 guys. I suffered and cheered for Sepp trying so hard while being so limited. So my hot take is: on paper (lol) this incoming crew could be better on the boards and better making shots. Defense chemistry turnovers all that of course is TBA.

ValpoDad, your optimistic take is as good as any other. The only silver lining in this Future is Now reality of roster development is that most other Valley schools are having to do the same thing. If VU's one year re-do is better than that of others, then it's actually possible to go from this year's record to post-season play the next.
Hey, at least there's no in-season portal...though I'm being only slightly facetious when I say just wait for Charlie Baker's next announcement.
One tool (maybe) that results from having minimal NIL: for upperclassmen or 5th years "you wanna play?" If even a mid major drops 80-100k (whatever the relevant dollars) on a sophomore sorry bruh he's likely playing... Many schools attitude might be-Mr Senior: Dont care bout what you did prior or your pedigree or sad injury history and that you're finally healthy... We're playing the guys we PAID. If someone gets hurt maybe you get a crack. Valpo can say look no one has much of a bag so whatever and whoever gets us wins gets minutes. In the end some guys in year 5 of college bb will just want minutes. Could be some untapped talent in there. Includes D2 and NAIA guys. Similar concept for a true freshman. DO YOU WANT A CRACK AT DIVISION 1 MINUTES? That we can offer. No way RP planned on Schmidt starting don't think he even had a scholly. Probably same with Sepp-but apparently they outperformed and there was no monetary consideration. I know I am really straining and contorting to find the way VU can capture some talent year over year and be surprisingly competitive. Maybe its the hope on Easter... 
I do wonder who was asked to portal and who chose it. Because Im quizzical on where some of these kids think they will land.
