Certainly hope you're right Bud.
@jd24 hey, who knows at this point? But, jeeze, ya gotta cling ta sumthin 😵💫🤯😱🤬
I stopped getting overly excited about incoming players long ago. (Long before the great Shaw debacle of 2024 even). We are rarely right about how the players will evolve or fit together.
At the same time, I understand how it is fun for a lot of people to pass the offseason months talking and getting hyped about something. Even if it is a grainy video in an empty gym.
Any video...particularly a highlight video...can be remarkably misleading when it comes to evaluating a player. Lets forget competition level...possibly the first consideration...and just look at how these videos are spliced together. For instance there is a kid on a local team who's had his highlight video out there for a couple of weeks. He's shown making some shots, a steal or two, a pass or two and a rebound or two. He looks fantastic. I attended every game his school played in this season. On a pretty good team the kid was the 8th man in the rotation and had maybe 3 games out of 27 for which he played any much more than 4 or 5 minutes and had any much affect on the outcome. He did hit one game winner which is in the highlight video....from about 5 different angles.
On video he'd be a great get
I think Powell owes us one happy dance player we haven't heard of yet. This would be after the kid from Snow.
Valpo now has two recruits that were previously committed elsewhere. Both were due to coaching changes. Mark Brown (Omaha) and now Kobe Walker (Central Michigan). Love seeing the coaching staff staying quick on their feet.
This guy is apparently out of prep school? Big man depth....I guess.
At least there's a couple of guys with some size both up and out on the roster. We'll see if they can play.
We've lamented that fact that we lacked a bruiser type to match others in the Valley. Cooper wasn't ever going to be that guy.
Here's a video on Mark Brown Jr. as well as Mr. Walker:
Any word on the status of Jefferson Monegro...I understood that it was possible he would remain at VU

I think it is highly unlikely he returns at this venture
jd24 ... to answer your question he is out of High School. Played at Bloomington Normal High School in Illinois. I guess he was not recruited by Illinois State.

I have not heard this.

Yep he was Normal Community, (Bloomington has their own, Normal has 3 total HS's)
Looked at Verbal commits and if its accurate you are correct, no offer from Illinois State or Bradley who is just down the road. BUT 9 total D1 offers listed so lots of interest. Looks like a good pick-up in my OP.
Bradley and ISUr did look at him, but ISUr didn't have the roster spaces and it seems Bradley went a different direction is what I have heard.
