Word is that Carson's Wright State coach is coming to the MVC to take the SIU position. He is going to need players since almost the whole team entered the transfer portal.
I read here and comments elsewhere that our NIL is "bad", whatever that means Reference is also made that perhaps Belmont could have a problem also. What is the basis for these remarks? Have numbers been published? Do we know what other MVC schools have as far as NIL is concerned? Does anyone have any facts or are these comments based on a "feeling" of what the facts may be? I am not suggesting that VU is not at the bottom of the MVC as far as the NIL situation is concerned. But who really knows? We have not been the only school that has lost players, plus we went through a terrible period while Matt L was our coach. We get enough speculation...I would like to hear some facts.
Wow, Evansville loses Ben Humrichous to the portal after one spectacular season. I assume that he is trying to do the unthinkable, in going from unknown NAIA to mid-major MVC, and most likely P6 team

Unless Carson knew that Nagy would be leaving a few weeks back, I just don't see it. He transferred from his program before knowing that he was likely to take another job
Powell made comments that were posted to twitter and said that his views of NIL are more focused on building your Name Image and License via volunteer work and charity work. His whole philosophy is "Your bag will come, but you gotta earn it". Powell wants to get local business and the community to support the team first and foremost. Basketball NIL and football NIL are drastically different.
I hope in this offseason we get an NIL store set up. Being able to buy merch that directly benefits athletes is something a lot of schools have already done, but I have not seen an NIL store pop up from VU directly.
@valpotx Humrichous is also declaring for the draft from what I saw on twitter this morning. HUGE hit for Evansville.

Carson may have transferred simply with the goal of moving up in conference level. The MVC (whether VU or SIU) is a step up and where his brother plays.
With all the coaching changes and Transfers, the upcoming MVC season will be unrecognizable. As of this morning 3/28 this is the number MVC Transfers:
Belmont 4
Bradley 4
Drake 8
Evansville 1
Ill State 2
Ind State 0 (mostly because they are still playing)
Miss State 8
Murray St 3
UNI 6
SIU 9
UIC 6
Valpo 0
I saw somewhere that current power rankings have us at 4th or 5th in conference purely because we kept our guys.
@valpotx well... obviously those rankings don't matter in the slightest seeing as there are about 300 or so days until next season begins...
Miss State 8
Miss is almost always the designation for Mississippi so therefore more people would think Miss State would be Mississippi State and MO is almost always the designation for Missouri so Missouri State would be MO State or MO ST or MOST.

Our first Big man Look. 6 10 foreward
I hope that God is too busy to attend to the transfer portal.
