If you want a textbook example of how to blow what seems like a solid win in the last 5 minutes of a game, check out the replay from today's game at home against Drake.  Up 1-0 and we give too much space to their wing for an easy cross and header finish, only to give up another goal 2 minutes later, as our central Defender deflected another cross by the same Drake player into our goal.  The Defender marking the cross did not learn from giving too much space just 2 minutes before, and it was essentially a cross that any D-1 player can put into the box to make something happen.  Too bad, as this should have been a quality win...

well looks like the soccer team success was short-lived...0-5 in conference. Back to normalcy now mid pack at best -so disappointing-we don't have one program with sustained success or even close to it in this league.

Short lived?  Not one program with sustained success? How myopic. First we have VB, Men’s Golf  and Tennis.  Then we have WSO. They’ve been at the apex the last two years and competed at the highest MVC level for most of their time in the conference. Every program occasionally needs to reload/rebuild. This is it   There are a ton of freshmen on this roster this year and many are seeing significant minutes. Dropping to middle of the pack in a year like this so far is still a decent performance. Give these kids some more time to adjust to MVC play and we might see some late season surprises. Marovich is a very good coach and gets the most out of his kids. This is just a dip for WSO.

There were 9 last year. Counting seniors does nothing to further the conversation

@valpo15 Its not an excuse. Its a poor argument. Your poor argument. Counting seniors does nothing and isn't even a good metric to look at when comparing teams through the years. Valpo has strong teams. Particularly womens tennis and golf. Teams arent successful forever. Its a down year. Quit making bad examples.

It isn't like they are getting trounced in conference, outside of the UNI game, which was brutal to watch.  Just about each of their 4 goals were because we turned it over in our own end.  The other 4 losses in conference were nail-biters, and a sign of a team with a lot of young talent, including at the key position of GK.  I wish Nikki Coryell nothing but the best, as she did a solid 4 years at Valpo, but I wonder if she is regretting picking Kentucky for her GT year, as she has just played in 2 games.  Kentucky's starter was a starter at North Carolina, which is always one of the top women's programs, so I wonder what led Nikki to choose that school.
