Massey has Valpo favored however Stetson scored 24 against Saint Thomas which means their offense is at least competent.
massey has us as a 2 point favor. Maybe 24-22 Valparaiso?
This is a must win in my mind. Offense needs to improve in a hurry. Again teams are gonna load up the box to stop #7. We are mostly a one or two trick pony offense. For recruiting and moral Valpo needs a winning season and the Hoosier Helmet back!
Stetson is in the path of Hurricane Milton the campus is shutdown Tuesday and Wendsday so have to wonder if the game will be played.
Offense not scoring a touchdown in 8 Quarters is exactly how last season ended. While Brewster and Hamdan may have NFL experience as players, they have not coached to my knowledge at the collegiate level. Jarnigan while being a successful alumni, has not had his own position room, Fox while instilling a great defensive culture has never coached WR's or led an offense - to my knowledge. Bosch and Schweitzer are both running backs coaches with neither having much college success to their resume.
With all this being said. Symmes was an absolute failure as an OC and the new staff is extremely inexperienced. Combine that with FR Givens, Tyler, Russell all starting, Sophomores Gundy, Paic, Kline, Thomas (7/11 underclassmen starters) and our most Dynamic offensive player is a Transfer in Mansaray. Spring WR1 Micah Mackay has missed essentially the season with injury. Our portal WR's (Bolin, Jimenez, Gundy to an extent, and Coulson) have been busts. That is an absolute recipe for disaster in a primarily upperclassmen conference.
So where do we go? Mansaray according to his twitter upon transferring has 2 years of eligibility coming in. Tyler is a RSFR , we return 3/5 linemen and our receiving core can only quite literally go up. Maybe we can revive Jernegan. I think the hope is to see flashes of competence and explosiveness through the end of the season, retain staff and start to build on that side of the ball.
This is looking like a 2-4 win season, I hope Fox and the defensive players can hang on because I think something very real has been built on that side of the ball in terms of depth, culture, and foundation.
Spring WR1 Micah Mackay
I was wondering about what happened to him. Coming in he was very highly regarded.
Stetson plays on grass so it might be a bit difficult for them to get the field ready for Saturday. This game is either going to me moved or cancelled. If it is moved I expect an announcement today or tomorrow. I would be shocked if this game is being played in Stetson.

Might they move the game to Valpo??
@vu72 We would hear something today or tomorrow if the game is being moved to Brown field. It seems to me Orlando is already beginning to suspend flights as is. If there is no word by tomorrow. I would personally assume the game is being played at Stetson and they are going to bet on the weather holding off or cancelled.

Holding off won't be an option. At the very least, TS winds and probably a lot of rain overnight Wednesday into Thursday. Will affect Orlando International as well so may be difficult for Valpo to even get there for the game unless they fly into Tallahassee and bus it from there or something like that.
I'd guess no game at this point.
@jd24 I should have said the game is being ASSUMED to be at Stetson. As for them holding out. Extremely unlikely they will.
Milton is now a Cat 5 hurricane with 180 mph winds and is labeled the strongest storm on the planet this year. It’s headed directly for Tampa and its projected course over the Florida peninsula takes the eye right over Deland. It is scheduled to make landfall on Wednesday and days of heavy rain will precede it. Orlando airport is shutting down Wednesday in advance with no reopening date announced. None of this bodes well for the game being played.
FWIW, Valpo could really use a bye this weekend to get its act together.
Dumb question of the day….how does the Valpo football team fly to Orlando? I would assume a charter flight?
It looks like the storm will be out of Florida by Wednesday night/Thursday morning with Sunshine to follow. If they have decent drainage the field may be playable by Saturday afternoon. I would also think the airport will be open by Friday night.
By the way, I was intending to take Meteorology while at Valpo but the class was filled and I was forced to take Biology, which didn't end well for me.
Game officially cancelled.
