Bradley 88-72
I do think we will compete and be ready to play, but Bradley is the much better/consistent team today. Our defense and scoring droughts are still to problematic. You can come back against a mediocre Western Michigan team but not in Peoria today. Our last win versus Braves was the covid season.
P.S. Indiana State is shooting lights out at Ohio State this morning.52-47 Bucks@half.
Bradley scares me!
Sycamores lost 103-83 and splitting with Indiana St may be difficult. Go Beacons.
I knew as soon as Valpo was gifted those 2 points at the end of the half Bradley would score somehow, what a shot.
Kasper looks like a Valley player out there, everyone else needs to wake up if we want to have a chance on the 2nd half.
Does Shaw do anything productive? He hits free throws when he gets them, I guess.
We are hanging around... if we can put together an efficient offense we have a chance.
Don’t understand how the ball doesn’t get to Cooper with 30 secs left at end of regulation.
So close... dare I hope?
Valpo just ran out of gas. Had it in their grasp. However, Valpo is a different team than they used to be. Much improved.
Jefferson 4-19.
Carver's home court advantage played a huge factor in the free throw shooting.
I wouldnt hold your head. That was a good game and was well executed for the most part.
@nocru Bradley is a really tall roster. I was more disapoited when powell did not have a big in the game early in the 1st half.
Thats exactly how I called it! lol
Excellent effort and improved permitter defense, close out on three point shooters. The team played pretty tough for a majority of the game and its clear things are trending in the right direction. The half court buzzer beater, some missed free throws and the inability to get better shots in the half court sets in the final 5 minutes of regulation proved to be the difference. Bradley was the benefit of a few more calls (phantom foul call on Schmidt, the base line lob to Hannah), but shouldn't have mattered if we extended the lead in the end of regulation or the first half. We had our chances to close the deal and Monegro is not a closer at this point.
Need Cooper to take more shots and have Schmidt coming off screens behind the arc. He didn't have the quickness to get by the Bradley guards and he's our only reliable three point shooter. Sepp was outstanding today! Ellis barely played.
Next up Mo State. They are hot garbage right now, this is a win we have to have!
Good game overall, and as I've said since the second half of last season, Sepp is just a pest to any of our opponents, whether on rebounds, defending any of the 5 positions (he played Deen well several times on switches), and fundamental scoring in different ways. Our ballhandling really let us down in the first and second OTs, with Darius, Justus, and Jeff seeming to let the moment get the best of them, but I can't fault us losing to the pre-season #1 in double OT. I agree on Jeff, in that the broadcasters kept building him up as getting to the basket late in the game and both OTs, but I kept yelling out that he was getting to the basket, but not finishing (4/19). Coop with a solid game for the most part, outside of those 2 misses late in 2OT, but he made up for it with an "in your face" 3. Cool to see Carson early on for an early 3 point spark, going 1/2. Sepp with a monster game of 11 points, 15 rebounds, 3 assists/1 turnover, and 2 blocks.
This is a team that is proving it can hang with the top dogs in the Valley. This is also a very young team vs one of the older teams in the valley. The fact that this game was this close is a good thing, I think much of us expected a blowout loss. Hopefully we can keep some of these younger guys around for a few years. As it stands now, I can see this team making some noise in St. Louis. They get better with each game played.
I wish we had Scmhidt for another year.
