10 minutes before game time, stands mostly empty, only a few students and sparse Valpo Band. I hope the team was embarrassed by their  performance at Indiana State and come out with some fire!

Just turned the game off. This might be the last time I watch Valpo for awhile.

Can’t hit a shot. Sloppy passes. Lazy defense.

An absolutely failure of coaching by Roger Powell and his staff.

I’m not going to give up on the team but it is pretty painful. Cooper getting bullied down low and no one else is making shots to relieve the pressure on him. At least de la Cruz monegro has turned up to play otherwise the game would be dead and gone

This is a joke right? What am I watching?

Without Jefferson we would have no offense.

Powell needs to get grilled during the press conference.

I think also it might be time for Schmidt to sit and give McNair/ Carson more chances to develop

Very poor interior passing execution. Sepp turned the ball over with bad passes at Murray earlier in the year and today might be worse. I'm thinking we can and should make a game of this one but let's see how the half time adjustments pan out.

Powell has completely lost control of this team.

I cannot tell if the team has given up on Powell or Powell has given up on the team.

Wood was missing shots in the first game but was better today. Ellington killed us again despite Carson Schwieger defending him pretty well.

The score was lopsided but we played portions of the second half pretty well. Schmidt hasn't had many good looks at the basket in a month. He always is defended by someone who knows how to do it.

How come Darius consistently misses wide open 3's by 2 feet while he is always close to making them when he is covered?

It's a real possibility this team will not win a game again this year, The team has clearly lost it's confidence and doesn't know how to get it back. That would be coaches and players. We have just about locked up the number one pick in the draft! Turning to the off season, as some one eluded to earlier, need a Broekhoff Peters type player to come in, build team around the star. What was everyones projection for Powell year 2?

Expecting an apology to the fans, I watched the postgame conference by Coach Powell (he did not bring any players to it), but he repeatedly stated how Murray State and the other teams in the Missouri Valley are bigger, stronger, more experienced, tougher, etc. This translates to me as something I mentioned when the roster was finalized: Valpo's group of recruits seemed "underwhelming," I wrote here in the summer. Particularly because I had confidence in Coach Powell and the others on his staff, I was disappointed. Indeed, especially in a season where just about every team had to reload, other coaches in the league, including newly hired ones, simply did a better job recruiting.

I remember at the start of the season when Ellis and Shaw were in the starting lineup, they were promoted as among the top scorers who would make a mark in the Missouri Valley. McNair was praised as a possible freshman of the year type talent. Going back even to last year when he redshirt, Scroggins was projected to be a strong inside force for this year's team. Yet, today both Ellis and Shaw played only 1 minute and neither scored a point, McNair played 7 minutes and had 1 basket. Scroggins again didn't see any time on the court. Four players who were expected to contribute quite a bit, two starters in the beginning of the season, combined to get 0 rebounds. Hell, Ellis had 62 points in the first four games; he now has 3 points in the last 7 games.

Now, I still trust Coach Powell, and I hope JT Pettigrew turns out to be an excellent recruit. However, there have to be better results recruiting players to surround him, and there needs to be a superior job developing them through the new season.
