Ok. You should never, NEVER, be advocating for a coach to take a tech intentionally. That is worse basketball than what is currently being displayed on the court.
This is laughable…I’ll give my full thoughts if we lose. Letting Arnett ,who isn’t some great player, own us is just funny , same shit…
@rezynezy you’ve obviously never watched great coaches then…the great ones know how to back their players…

Agree. Any optimism that was left for the future of this program is starting to slip for me. If Powell doesn’t work out in the next year or two, I think it’s time to start looking at the feasibility of Division 2.
Cleveland State is owning us , Technicals everywhere , Beacons are bad, Schweiger has been blocked on like 3-5 shots , tell me what’s good ? How much under .500 in the MVC will we be ? Can we figure it out ??
Wow great shot by Ellis , down 8 with 3:30to go but Darius fouls in the back court , Vikings in the double bonus…
Still no signs of progress against a D-I team. Cleveland State was picked 7th in the Horizon League pre-season poll. Based on the result of this home game loss, it looks like Valpo would be in the bottom tier of its old conference as well.
Watching both the Liberty and CSU games I have to say CSU seemed to be a better team. Liberty did not impress me which made that blowout feel so much worse.
I can see the improvement each game, but not getting the results we want. Especially 3 point shooting. Yikes.
It seems like another year of living and dying by the three. That to me says 12 or 13 win maximum in a down year for the conference. When does the transfer portal open? Maybe we could add another 32% three point shooter that played 12 minutes a game at another mid major.
Very disappointed in how this one played out. A win would have gone a long way for building early season confidence. Defensive lapses were a major flaw on lapse year's team and unfortunately we saw some of that flare up again in the second half tonight.
I'd also be curious to see aggregated 3-pt shooting statistics over the past five seasons or so. Feels like we'd be near the bottom of D1.
Al McGuire was brilliant as a coach after a T. Long time ago, but it’s true.Ok. You should never, NEVER, be advocating for a coach to take a tech intentionally. That is worse basketball than what is currently being displayed on the court.
I’ve been watching Valpo basketball for a long time and this is up there in terms of a dispiriting loss. It’s not the fact we lost. Or the final score. Or our ice cold shooting.
It’s the second game of the season and the body language of the team is bad. They’re acting out and getting technicals. It’s a ship that looks like it’s already taking on water.
Maybe winning cures everything. Maybe, we shoot lights out the next few games and all is well in the world. But right now, I’m not seeing it.
It’s a new cast of characters, yet we’re making the same mistakes. It’s a team that isn’t playing like a team. I’m getting flashbacks to Matt Lottich; a great recruiter but not so good with the X’s and O’s. A carousel of players coming and going. Why is Jerome Palm playing at Hawaii when we don’t have a big man?
Hopefully this is the low point of the season…
Only watched last 10 minutes and the inconsistency of our newcomers disappoints but doesn't completely shock me. What is most painful for me to watch is Darius and Cooper greatly underperforming all our expectations.
Complaining about the refs when your team is shooting whatever crapola pct it was would be just stupid.
