We need a W badly tonight.  Roger has got to cobble something together tonight to end this continuous hammering we are getting in the paint - particularly in the last 15 minutes of the game. If MO State follows the play book on us, that’ll be what they will try to do.

At this point in the season I’m thinking, what the hell, and fall back to playing Scroggins, Louth, and Carson in a down low rotation with at least two of them on the floor at all times in the second half (that’s 15 fouls shared)  Yes, we sacrifice some O at the other end with only 3 scorers on the floor, but we gotta do something more powerful than in past games to defend against any inside game.

We have tried everything BUT 3 bigs. Im in on that plan especially if we have a lead. Carson has been very functional on defensive glass and can actually stick some shots. Be nice to give the mvc something else to consider goin forward-if it works

Im agreeing that Carson might see some bigger minutes tonight. My memory from the Springfield game was of them having 2 muscular inside players (not that tall) who nearly won them that game without shooting from beyond the 3 point line.

@valpodad I’d go with Darius, All, Jeff, Coop and Kaspar to start, with Schmidt as the 6th. Unless we are super hot in the first half, I’d just keep the 3-Bigs in my back pocket in case they are successful early down low.

If we play true to form, however, it’ll be close at the half. And then the roof falls in as usual when MO State, says: “dang, we’re just  gonna pound them inside cuz they can’t stop anyone down there”.  At the slightest indication of that shift, that’s when I’d go 3-Bigs (Coop plus the 3 other bigs rotating in the other two spots — their sole responsibility: to shut down their bigs and make the lane painful for penetrators ( fouls freely given).

I am not that knowledgeable in 21st century BB (heck, in HS our coach emphasized the outside two-handed set shot and we were required to shoot FTs underhand 😱), but, essentially, isn’t that kinda like a 2 man zone underneath with the outer three in switching man2?

Crowd. Over under 1,000?

Zero chance of winning tonight if they don't hit at least 7 three pointers.

This game will be nip and tuck the whole way. Curious how the team responds to Powell's fight and if he can make some half court adjustments. I hope Shaw continues his good shooting and Wright gets others involved when he looses the hot hand.

We match up better with MO State. There big is wide but not tall. We can defend that better than having 5 or 6” mismatch.

30% shooting in the first half. Hopefully, we shoot more like the first half our last game and pull this game out. If not, we are in danger of being the 12th seed-ugh!

I guess I dont get it- out of a timeout down 8 in the bonus and a quick three by cooper. several bad threes when we were in bonus last 11 minutes. And big fella for Mo State will play this half. 3 and 4 guards whole first half.  Someone has to individually get hot because doesnt seem like we have any scheme to get good shots.

Why do we so often shoot so poorly in our own house?

Also seems like Schmidt is hurt or has hit a wall. Yes Shaw is a defensive liability but he can offensively match whatever Schmidt has going at the moment. Just Breathe lol Im working myself into a lather over here
