I think most of us could have assumed he would turn down the offer. Lots of people on twitter throw Scott's name around for a ton of jobs, but ultimately, as the people who know the Drew family the best out of any fanbase. We know he is probably going to coach the bears until he retires.

Maybe Kentucky hires Lottich, it’ll provide an opportunity for the Big Blue nation to vent.

Mark Pope...at this point...would make the most sense for Kentucky.

Glad to see Scott stick to who he is, versus chase the paycheck and NIL

Saw a lot of angry Kentucky fans in his comments too.

@valpotx I’m sure he’s wheeling and dealing with the Baylor Bubbas to score cash and opportunities to lure high star recruits!

@usc4valpo  FWIW, USC, he lost some leverage in that regard by not even getting into the interview circus. But I think loyalty at Baylor is respected and Scott will see some more investment in his program as a reward.

Baylor is to Scott what Vanderbilt was to Bryce.  Only so many opportunities out there with the educational focus, strong alumni fundraising, faith-oriented openness, and strong conference affiliation.  Scott has already proven that he can win a national championship with Baylor, so if you are paid well and have a good lift, why risk going to a rabid fanbase that will eat you alive when things go wrong?

With the Valley wide rebuild still underway ... is this the year for the Valley newcomers to establish themselves?

Can Valpo, Belmont, Murray State, and UIC realistically compete for the top spots in the conference?

The coaching change that surprised me the most was the Yaklish sacking. I thought UIC was on an upturn.

But the move was made and shows that success must happen in a timely manner. Good thing Homer Drew was not on a MVC coaching timeline.

The new UIC head men's basketball coach is Rob Ehsan, former UAB head coach and Stanford assistant.

The bar for success was really low when Homer took over and so he had more leeway. Homer's niche of recruiting the local stars was really smart. He did inherit local stars as Jones, Anselm, Todd Smith. Not sure if Curtis Stevens, Beasly, Tracy Gipson and Cavanaugh were his recruits. Certainly they turned the corner with Redmon and Schmidt.

Most schools want to win right away. Valpo leadership has never been accused of moving to quickly.
