From curiosity I looked up the season numbers for Carson Schwieger and others. Carson played only 170 minutes, shot 35% from 3, pulled down 39 rebounds and only turned the ball over 4 times. Those are impressive numbers even when we factor in the knowledge that Roger picked his playing time spots carefully and never had him in a game when full court and intensive half court pressure was being applied. I think he has a future but it might take some time. Could he grow into being a near full time starter next year?
Justus McNair had only 10 assists vs 14 turnovers for the season which was 382 minutes. Those are low numbers for both categories but I'm not sure what it suggests for next year.

If All and Cooper stay it’s due to the credibility of Roger. He’s been consistent about his 3 year plan and so far everything has come true.
He’s stated that he thinks All and Cooper can play professionally. I would guess his pitch to get them to stay is, play for me and I’ll put you in the best position to make professional money in the future vs NIL money now.
For a view into NIL that puts Valpo’s situation into perspective click on attachment. Don’t know how reliable this account is but chances are it’s probably close. ☹️
There is a large disconnect between donors and the innerworkings of a department. I also dont think a league like that would even be possible because of money
There is no way in hell that Creighton would leave the Big East for such a configuration. They might be accurate on NIL, but their view on what is actually likely in a conference is bs.
Same with DePaul - they suck out cash from the Big East despite being the annual cellar dweller.
Here is a thought - if Drake escalates their success, could they go to the Big East? Des Moines metro is not tiny and close to Omaha. Their arena is big enough for most games and could use Wells Fargo for top ranked or higher ranked opponents. Then again, does Drake want to risk with higher expenses?
Justus McNair confirmed today that he is returning for the 2025-26 season.

He has a really good chance to be a starter and get significant minutes, as well as build stats to leave us after his SO season. In this climate, even being the godson of the HC doesn't mean crap lol

I respect this a ton from Roger. As negative of an outlook as I have on CBB right now, I can tell he cares about righting this ship. I hope some of you guys are able to show up (I can’t) and hear his thoughts.
I’m afraid Drake would have to get in line behind Dayton, St. Louis, and Loyola, all 3 of which are Catholic. Nine of the eleven members of the Big East are Catholic. Dayton and St. Louis have lobbied the BE for admission for years.
For those who were not at Viking Chili Bowl this morning. The restaurant was packed in the room where meeting was held. Standing room only. Roger was upbeat as always and VERY appreciative of those who attended. Basically he his sticking to his game plan as stated before. Recruiting best high school players as possible. Trying to get the best transfer players as possible. We will probably see more transfers and basically 10 or 11 new players next year. Not much could be said of new players until they are signed up but he seemed very upbeat about the players VU is recruiting. Talked about money needed for success in recruiting. Talked about donations to The Rev Foundation as a means for supporting NIL. Overall well received for not a lot of information about meeting. Roger was surprised at the turnout.
Honest question, how many of those attendees will give to the Rev Collective and how much? It probably won’t have a major impact on high caliber student-athletes imo

While I guess the claim that every little bit helps can be made, I don't think a nickel and dime campaign moves the needle much. It takes major donors, I think.

I did end up asking Powell a question about this as he didn't elaborate during the meeting on if his collective is a competitor to VBC. From what he told me, the Rev foundation collects money in the form of donations to support kids around the region, and also seeks out nil opportunities for Valparaiso athletes. All the VBC does is cut checks to players. Powell told me directly that the red foundation is seeking out the nil opportunities and the Rev foundation cuts a check to the VBC and then the VBC pays players. He did talk on mass about the Rev. Foundation.
While I cannot remember exact numbers as to what he said, I am fairly certain it was somewhere in the low six figures is what has already been collected that is available to be given to Valpo athletes
However, my biggest takeaway from the meeting was everyone in attendance was able to give their contact information and become a group supporters which Powell would try to host monthly or bi-monthly zoom meetings with where people could give their input on how they feel about the program directly to Powell.
Additionally, some more information on recruits who have signed was given as well as some information about recruits who if they were to sign and how they would fit into the mold.
While not much was given on this topic, what little was said was pretty eye-opening. It seems that for what I could gather in terms of new homes for basketball. They're currently trying to also look at a renovation project for the ark, but they need something around 50k in order to draft blueprints. From what I understood, they want to do this in time to hand off to the new president where hosmer will make a case that this is what they need
