Avila is almost certainly going to leave for a P5. Heading into his Junior year, he has been all over ESPN and various news sources. Someone is going to be in his ear about potential NIL. I don't see any way that he stays.
Only reason I see Avila and other ISU guys staying is because of the McAffee donation. But even then one donation doesn't keep you with a team.
Indiana State's Jayson Kent, Julian Larry, and Augustinas Kiudulas have joined Masen Miller and entered the transfer portal. Attention now on Isaiah Swope, Ryan Conwell and Robbie Avila.
Swope and Conwell are both in the portal now as well. My guess is Avila is gone too
It'll be most interesting if Avila holds for P5 offers, or if he actually considers following Schertz to SLU.
Well guess the rumors werent true. Saw on the ISU page that Larry and Avilla were both staying. ISU is effectively back at square 1 now
Well, no transfers as of yet for Valpo. May or not surprise anyone thus far, but how many of our players were good enough to transfer outside of Cooper. Besides not all players in the portal find a new home.
@burnee77 DD and Stafford definitely could have found new homes. Also sometimes guys elect to take a year down in juco to inflate their stats when they either don't play or get minimal points on underperforming rosters
It is official: Avila has decided to enter the transfer portal.

I don't know why anyone thought Avila would stay. The media loved him over the last month of the season, and P5s are going to be all over him. His NIL is going to be pretty high. That is now 8 in the portal from ISUb.

Reportedly, Avila is placing a "no contact tag" on his entry into the portal, which usually means he already knows where he is going and does not want to be solicited by programs bidding for him. This could favor Schertz and Saint Louis.
I think all this is really adding pressure to perform on Coach Powell. Last year we had the "I was hired late and couldn't get the guys from the portal", but now, with many of the league teams all being decimated by transfers, it levels the field and makes finishing in the top half a reality or dare I say, a requirement?
This year was always going to be his prove it year. Now evenmore so. Something g that I saw on Twitter was ISU fans are now harassing families of guys who transfered. Coupled with the spiral of the isu forum. It is not a good look for incoming recruits and potential transfers for them
