Valpo 43
UNI 37
at half time
Valpo has been playing well!
Been following on GameTracker and we are once again pushing a top 4 MVC team and leading at the half. I guess everyone must be at the game and the internet signal is weak.
FINALLY ! ! Ya beat me to the post TJJ 😀
Excellent piece at halftime about Tyler Schmidt. I hope he wants to, and will be able to, stay another season.
But the question remains. Besides us two three where is anyone?
LOL
we might be pushing 2000 at the game. I walked in as they tipped off. There was still well over 100 people in lobby waiting to get their tickets.
DeAveiro and Monegro lead Valpo in scoring the 1st half. Darius was looking to shoot when he was open. They weren’t guarding him.
Love Valpo’s defense. They have forced 11 TO’s to Valpo’s 3!
Let's see if we can put a team away. If we can develop that closeout skillset then we are in good shape for this season.
There is the pleasant surprise: best overall performance by Valpo this season!
Valpo just looked ... really good. They executed so well on both ends of the floor.
And the ARC looked decently filled even without classes in session.
Now if Stafford was able to return ... one can dream.
OMG, do ya think we will be getting a little more respect? We’ve taken Drake and Bradley to the limit and now have beaten the #3 MVC team.
It looks like a lineup and roles along with sub patterns have fallen into place and the players are responding with greater confidence.
My guess is that we had 2,100 at the game, even without students on campus.
This was a statement game, and also a "put some respect on our name" win. Some UNI posters had this as a question mark game, while several others were thinking it was another game that they would win by 10+. The MVC should be put on notice through our first 4 conference games, that Powell and this team are bringing back toughness to the ARC and on the road in each game. Everyone seems to know their role well at this point in the season, and we don't just have to rely on 1-2 players to score like last season, as you never know who will step up. For today, you could tell that Jacobsen wanted Darius to shoot as much as possible, and Darius made UNI pay in critical situations, even though he missed several 3s. We continue to improve each game, and hopefully the local community continues to get excited by these results, and starts showing up more to games. Let's go Valpo!
