I don't blame YSU for anything, but rather am just embarrassed that they are our rep in the NCAAs.

Probably not as embarrassed as at-large Indiana State (35-18) is right now after being knocked out of the tournament by upstart YSU (17-37):

Obviously this is Jim Tressel's doing.

Talk about a team outperforming their expectations. I think it must be said that whatever YSU did to turn their extremely bad fortunes around going into the HL tournament---it worked. This is not only a hot team but the Penguins will do as well as or better than Valpo did in the last 2 NCAA tournaments. That is quite an accomplishment despite the way valpotx feels about YSU baseball.

YSU beats Indiana State 5-2 for only their 17th win of the year.

I am still embarrassed.  I don't care that they won a game.  Baseball is different than basketball, where you definitely have more upsets in a 1 game situation.  Case in point with my adult league baseball team.  We haven't lost a game in 3 years, and lost to a crappy team a few weeks back.  It can happen more often in this sport.

A team that is now 17-37 shouldn't be in a championship tournament.  I am happy for their players that they got a win, but hope that they bow out in the next game...

YSU will now take on Stanford at IU's Bart Kaufman Field in Bloomington on Sunday at noon central time. If Stanford beats YSU on Sunday they will need to beat IU twice on Monday to win the Bloomington regional and continue in the NCAA's. Stanford lost to the Hoosiers Saturday night, 4-2.

The YSU win over Indiana State can be viewed on ESPN3 at this website  http://espn.go.com/watchespn/player/_/id/1791869/size/condensed/

The YSU/Stanford game should be on ESPN3 as the Site 8, Game 5 broadcast.

YSU got blitzed by Stanford, something like 12-2. So much for the reserve team in the NCAA tourney.
