Sounds like a good addition.  Also, it appears that there was a small side note about Alex Rossi at the bottom of that release, not returning as has been speculated.

Good to see us use that last scholly on an experienced player. We will need some upperclass leadership next season. Sounds like a very athletic guy. He seems like a guy who can create his own shot when the offense breaks down or an opponent takes us out of our offensive rhythm.  Will be fun to watch athletes like this and Keith Carter play together.

It is too bad about Alex Rossi and his health issue apparently ending his collegiate career. If healthy he would of been a very good HL player who potentially would of been a difference maker given his shooting ability. I hope Alex stays at Valpo and gets his degree, and that Valpo is able to somehow provide a scholarship.

Not going to lie, I clicked on this thread expecting to see the new Executive Vice-Chancellor for Faculty Diversity or something

Description of closing minutes in a Charlotte win over Butler last February during which Nickerson scored 8 points:

"With the 49ers leading 60-50 with 3:30 on the clock, Butler went on a 5-0 run cutting Charlotte's lead to 60-55 with 2:20 left in the second half. Then, Charlotte's Nickerson ended the Butler run with a tough running jumper from the wing pushing Charlotte's lead to 62-55 with 1:52 on the clock. Butler's Rotnei Clark connected on three three-point field goals and made three free throws over the final two minutes of the game ultimately cutting Charlotte's lead to 68-67 with nine seconds on the clock. Henry made one free throw pushing the 49ers lead to 2, 69-67. Then, Nickerson made a great steal with one second left. He converted two free throws giving the 49ers a 71-67 win."

I like this guy already! ;)

OK, nice pick up.  The quality of players has definitely picked up over the last couple of years.  But, I'm wondering how the rest of the teams feels about this.  He has to be a 3 right?  Maybe a 2 or could he play the 4?  How will this effect the playing time for guys like Peters and Yeo?

I understand that no playing time is guaranteed and also understand that coaches are going to pick up players who they feel can make the team better.  My question is only what goes through the mind of a hopeful 18-19 year old when a guy like this is added?

Well, they're not worried about it this year, at least. :)

But as the wise vet said to the rookie "there's a draft every year, kid".

If they're mentally tough, they can handle it.

If they're not, they can always transfer.

...

Still can't get over the name, though.  It's not a basketball star name; it's like a future university president name.

I helpfully suggest a rebranding for him, to make him "hip" and "cool" and "with the timez":  eVictor.

If the new guys are worried about Nickerson they need to just pack it up now because they don't have what it takes to play at this level. All these guys are competitors and just knowing that they were recruited by Valpo tells me they aren't as worried about personal accolades as they are the success of their team.
