Love this day, love hearing people's story on how Valpo positively effected (my apologies if that should affected, I'm a math teacher not so good with words) their lives. Regardless of good or not so good our basketball team is we should be proud to be Valpo.

I know this would never happen but how cool would it be if Valpo and Bryce Drew announced he was coming back home to coach the Crusaders. I like Matt Lottich as a man and I don't know how good he is as a coach yet, but Bryce is a proven commodity (at least at this level) and he's a Valpo legend. I'm just saying it would be cool and it would get me to cut a check to the Uni lol

First time your fault...second time my fault!

Words are sometimes second to genuine sentiment. As far as I am concerned, you get an "A" for positive sentiment.

If everybody can make a contribution is will really help.  Even a $5 donation (you can give to Men's basketball if you like) will add to the total of alumni who are contributing.  The amount isn't the issue but rather the numbers, which help with things like the US News evaluations. Now, if you are so inclined, feel free to open up the checkbook!

There are 10 new crowd funding opportunities as part of Proud to be Valpo Day, https://crowdfunding.valpo.edu/s/1347/17/cf-home.aspx?sid=1347&gid=1&pgid=2068

Check it out, there are a few that I thought were pretty neat.

Yes, I love this idea as it helps me, who really can't afford any big money donation feel like i'm really contributing to something, especially if it's for a department or organization I was apart of while there.

These programs are great and I am glad to see Valpo try additional crowdfunding. I do have a concern with this specific effort. I found out about this through this forum (thank you for posting the notification and link). I am probably above average for staying aware of what is going on with Valpo, but I may well have not known about this if I had not read the posting. Valpo: please try to communicate things like this more effectively.

Along this line of thought, I have maintained since joining this forum that the average Valpo alum with some disposable income that can be donated to the university would be much more amenable to donating to a tangible target knowing exactly where their dollars are going. It is fine for a lead donor to drop a million here or there and get their name on the building or whatever. What about the average schlep (like me)?  Very little to personally feel good about. I will tell you that I do feel good for buying one locker in the FB locker room and I, together with VU78, feel good about buying the poles and flags that grace Brown Field for FB and soccer matches. That's because I and 78 told MLB, in regard to the field, that the damn place needed to restore the flags that were always there when I was playing.

There are so many little things that the Athletic Department fund raisers could do via targeted, small project appeals that us schleps would financially support. Let me illustrate:  With a carefully developed ARC improvement plan, the department could distinguish between lead donor projects and schlep projects.  They could then publicize the list of schlep projects and appeal for small donor support.  That generates buy-in and increases participation. Perhaps a schlepp donor with some bucks morphs into that lead donor who replaces the wood bleachers in the ARC with comfortable chairbacks.

But, personally, it is difficult to just take some of my hard earned savings or retirement funds and donate them to nebulus giving buckets. So I will support Proud to be Valpo (because I am) but not, unfortunately, with the enthusiasm that fanatical alums at other schools do.

I think they just started pushing them out today. After I saw them on here I then saw them posted on Facebook too.

I want to be King of the schlep givers. Truly, I do.

I got notice in an email this morning

Having similar concerns about donating to nebulous giving buckets, I would encourage you (and others) to contact university advancement if you wish to donate money. My experience is that, while they have limitations/priorities imposed by the university (and ones related to tax laws), they will work with you to find options. Donations can sometimes be targeted towards a donor's wishes and there are possibilities to 'piggyback' on to another donation that is consistent with one's priorities.

Today, April 10, the Valparaiso University community again celebrates with alumni and friends across the country and around the world through an annual Day of Giving to declare themselves "Proud to be Valpo"! To mark the occasion, I photographed this image in the Chapel of the Resurrection. Join the celebration! #valpoday | valpo.edu/proudtobevalpo

Come on folks!  Every $5 donation counts, particularly if you have never donated!  The nutrition center goal of $2000 has only raised $870 so far--among 14 donors!  Give to a team, give to your college!  Just give!   ;D

Donated to 5 of the crowd fundings as well as to a couple other accounts. Make a gift today, and if you are sure where to put it may I suggest either the Valpo Fund or Crusader Fund.

1133 donors at last count.  Goal is 2000.  We have nearly a thousand members of the board!  Get it done!!
