Big win at Illinois State today (78-70)!  Great job, ladies!
Road conference win! White still out, but Profitt returned. We are one win from clinching a .500 season at a minimum.

I know she has been out, but what was the injury to Grace White?

26 of 28 from the line today giving them a season average of .804  :o They said it was second best in the country. However they are doing it somebody needs to pass the technique on to the guys.

Grace White working through a back injury.  This team is getting better every game.  Profitt back really helped vs. Ill St.  Now if White comes back, they are legit 10 deep again.  Because they do foul alot when they play aggressive d. Which helps them because they will win a FT battle like Ill st was.

Ladies with another solid win at LUC, 70-57!  They are now 15-10 (7-7).  Awesome, Coach Evans!

She played significant minutes but likely a bit rusty. Profitt didn't play but the team looks better every time they suit up. VU with only 6 1'st quarter points but changed their attack and forced 30 Loyola TO's.

How big was that win in Redbird arena?

This program is absolutely trending in the right direction! The coach and players are doing a tremendous job turning this program around!

Another big win at home versus UNI, 72-69!  I know that someone else will win, but Coach Evans will also have a good case for Coach of the Year, given our last decade of bottom-dwelling in Women's Basketball.  We are now 16-10 (8-7) in a league that might get 3 bids (RPI of 6 or 7 as a conference)

Now 8-7 with 3 of the 4 best Valley teams remaining with Drake, @MSU and@SIU. Getting to 9 wins is still a long shot but I wasn't sure they would get to 8.  :o

Great win!  Nobody wants to play Valpo!

The ladies are off to a great start after the first quarter, up 22-13 on a very good Drake squad.  Keep it up!

For the second time this year, Drake just barely escapes us, this time at 83-79.  We had 34 fouls to Drake's 21 fouls, and they took 48 FTs to our 15 FTs...so there is that.  Drake is just like GB was to the HL in Women's Basketball, so this was a tough one to take.

This program is getting so much better! I think we can and should contend for the title next year! TERRIFIC JOB LADIES! Keep it up! Go Valpo!

They have been fantastic this year (obviously our expectations were pretty low).  Two game to go with a chance to avoid the Thursday games but need some help from Loyola as we are on the road for both with one against the top team.

So a question:  Do women players often hang around for a fifth year?  Marlee was a red-shirt junior and went through the graduating players celebration after the Drake game but both Addison and Caitlin are red-shirt juniors also and look to return next year!

Losing Grace will certainly hurt but the other four starters are back plus adding a player like Leah Ernest, a First Team all state player from Wisconsin.  Maybe we should give a contract extension to Coach Evans!!!!

Marlee's had constant injuries throughout her Valpo career, so it is probably tied to that aspect.

I tend to agree perhaps if she made it through the season healthy she would have returned. She is however a Biomedical Engineering major so maybe not..

Any word on recruiting for the coming year?

Valpo with another huge win, this time @ SIU to close the regular season (69-58).  What an improvement from the first few games until now.  In those games, I was not impressed, but we have really found our own over the last 20 or so games.  We can play with any team in the MVC, which is currently the 7th best in conference RPI.  That is one heck of an accomplishment.  We finish at 17-12 (9-9), heading into the conference tournament.  The ladies finish in 6th place, to avoid the PIG!  We will play Bradley, which is a team that we have struggled against, but I wouldn't count us out.

You beat me to it!  This is a HUGE turnaround and says volumes about Coach Evans.  We lose Grace Hales (a big loss) but are adding some potent scorers.  Should be a very good next year for Valpo hoops not to mention what still might happen this season!!

Impressive.  Coach took a disaster of a program and getting results.  In the 7th best rpi conference nonetheless.
CRUSADERS!!!

Not only that, it looks like they took a slight detour after today's win to go support the men's team in St. Louis at the semifinal.

VUGrad1314

Hope they're staying for the Final! Also if possible I hope the men's team reciprocates and goes to Moline! Go VALPO! I BELIEVE!

VUGrad1314

Grace Hales makes honorable mention all conference team and Carie Weinman makes the all-defensive team! Congratulations on a terrific regular season ladies and best of luck at the Tournament in Moline!

I love this school and this program (and this goes for the entire athletic department) so much. Such great kids. Such hard workers. So many Valpo graduates who will go far in life because they do everything the right way.
